If you're starting Video Editing from zero, do this
If you want to start out as a YouTube Video Editor and make hundred/thousands of dollars each month selling your services, this edition of ‘The Editing Mastermind‘ is for you.
I wish I had this exact roadmap that I’m providing my lovely newsletter audience, when I was starting out.
Not wasting any more time, here you go:
1. Pick up a software
There are dozens of editing software out there in the market.
• Adobe Premiere Pro
• Final Cut
• DaVinci Resolve
But, if you want to go pro and sell services, you need to learn any of the above three.
And of course, if you are a complete beginner,
You can start with:
• CapCut
• Filmora
• Movavi Video Editor, etc
(CapCut is the best of the above three.)
And later switch up to the pro ones.
2. Learn the basics
You wouldn't understand these pro softwares on Day 1.
It requires patience and time. So, start with the basics.
Make YouTube your tutor as there are 1000s of tutorials available for you to learn the above softwares.
Consume content about editing and skills around it for at least 1-1.5 hours each day.
3. Improve boring videos
Now that you've learned the basics, how do you practice?
One simple hack I use:
Anytime I find a boring video on YouTube, I download it.
Then, I try to fix it by adding my creativity.
(Remember: Editing is all about practice)
4. Create a portfolio
When you're a complete beginner, you won't have raw footage and Voiceovers to edit videos.
You can use the above videos that you've practiced, for creating your Portfolio.
(Small Hack for editing faceless videos:)
1. Tell ChatGPT to write a video script.
2. Use AI to generate a VoiceOver of the script.
3. Edit it.
5. Skills 2.0
If you want to train yourself to sell long-term services, learning Video Editing only won't be enough.
You need to learn multiple skills such as:
• Selling
• Offer Creation
• Communication
• Storytelling
Read books and watch videos to learn them.
Where to learn these skills?
• Selling — Watch Futur on YT
• Offer Creation — Read $100M offers by Alex Hormozi
• Communication — Watch Vinh Giang on YT
• Storytelling — Follow Parker Worth on Twitter
6. Show your Work
Now that you've everything ready,
How do you bring clients?
In 2023, nothing would be better than creating content.
Make content about the things you do that other people would potentially find helpful.
Use different Social Media platforms like:
• TikTok
Or you can post Twitter content in Before/After version, just like Pranav👇
I become IMAN GADZHI's EDITOR in 22 HOURS🚀
Recreated the first 50 seconds of his A.I video✨
(everything other then Iman's face is ME) 🔥Took me 2 WHOLE DAYS!!! Twitter do your things😫
every Like❤️ and retweet♻️ gives me the will to live another day 🥸

Your potential client will see your work. If he finds that you're the right fit for him, he'll reach out to you.
That’s it for this edition. Work Hard King & Queens 👑!
